LED Phototherapy

Light Therapy

Also known as LED Phototherapy

Dermalux™ LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive facial and hand treatment using LED light energy to prompt cellular processes in your skin to accelerate repair and rejuvenation. Light therapy can be used for sun damage, rosacea, skin rejuvenation, eczema, acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, inflammatory conditions and sensitive skin. It has also been used to help manage stretchmarks and scarring, as well as wound healing. LED Light therapy is used in combination with many advanced rejuvenation treatments, as well as standalone courses of treatment using 1 or more of the 7 programmes offered by the Dermalux™ LED device.

LED Phototherapy Results

Living cells absorb light of different wavelengths (colours), and rare able to respond to each different wavelength in different ways. The skin uses the light as a source of energy to fuel the repair of damaged cells. The energy boosts circulation, accelerates tissue repair and activates the production of collagen and elastin.
We need light exposure for production of Vitamin D, and it can also influence levels of energy and serotonin in the body. In the field of skin science, controlled exposure to blue, red and near-red light plays an important role in accelerating the skin’s natural repair processes. Skin cells that have been energised with light function more effectively and can regenerate faster which can lead to healthier, younger looking and more radiant skin.
The Dermalux® Flex combines 3 clinically proven bands of light into 7 protocols.

Red Light

  • Highly anti-inflammatory
  • Helps to heal irritated and damaged skin, making it useful in the management of acne in combination with blue and infra-red light
  • Increases production of fibroblasts and collagen
  • Protects cells from damage
  • Increases circulation
  • Improvements in fine lines and wrinkles

Blue Light

  • Often included acne treatments
  • Helps to kill P.acnes, the bacteria associated with acne
  • Reduces inflammation found in active acne

Near Infrared Light

  • Very calming
  • Helps the body to produce serotonin
  • Used to help manage seasonal affective disorder

What can I expect?

During a treatment, the Flex device does the work while you simply lie underneath a light screen. Results may be seen after a single Dermalux® treatment with ongoing improvement over the next few days. Improvements hydration, skin tone, and overall radiance. Results are expected to last for several months after a course of treatments, but regular maintenance treatments can help ensure healthier skin.

LED Phototherapy may be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with skin treatments that are likely to lead to downtime, as it helps reduce redness and bruising, and to speed up skin recovery and enhance results. Courses of treatment are personalised during your consultation with your doctor. They can be quite intense, often starting with 3 treatments a week to activate the cellular processes.
